The Western Slimy Salamander (Plethodon albagula) is an unusual and seldom kept Salamander Species. They do moderately well in captivity and are not particularly diffiicult to keep. I enjoy keeping all different types of Salamanders and newts and this species is a pleasure to keep in my collection. They are fairly easy breed if you keep them in the right conditions and I would consider them a good option for keepers looking for something fairly easy and at the same time not that common. I would recommend a large body of water in the tank to maintain the humidity levels in the tank as high as possible and to insure that the quality of the water is pristine. They are a great species and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
