Fire Bellied Toad Experience

As a teen, I had two of these little guys at the same time: Jumpy and Stumpy (my dad chose the names). For about ten minutes, these were the most intriguing creatures I'd ever seen, up until nightfall came and they began causing a huge raucous from within their tank. They bleated and burped at each other every night, practically nonstop, for the entire time we had them. Their tanks were also extremely costly and time consuming to maintain - and they smelled. A lot. These toads were undeniably beautiful - especially the bright markings on the underbellies from which they get their title - but for us, not worth the hassle. We ended up giving them to a friend within a few months.
