Acquired: Pet store

My brothers convinced my mom to buy a fire-bellied toad from a pet store when we were in middle school. At first it was cool, they were exotic looking and didn't require much attention, but then we realized what was required to feed them. We had to buy live crickets and store them in the laundry room. Then you had to feed the toad the live crickets. It totally put me off on having the toad and the smell of both the toad and the crickets was very displeasing.
One positive I would say is the toad never minded being picked up and held in your hand. He let us pet him and didn't try and jump around.
This would be a good pet for someone who doesn't mind insects or cleaning a tank.
