I did not have that great of an experience with my Fire-Bellied Toads. I thought that they were beautiful and, of the seven that I owned, I had a particular toad that I liked the most, named Hector, but overall, I did not really feel that strong of a connection to them. They were easy to feed (I just dropped in blood-worms on a feeding schedule), and for the most part, they were relatively healthy. They hated to be handled, though, and physical interaction was what I was craving in a pet. Setting up their environment was easy but, what I did not realize, was that once their home is set up, it needs to stay consistent at all times. I made the mistake of changing up their cage, and it lead to them shedding and eating the slime that came off their bodies, which, apparently, is toxic to them. I lost all seven toads with a week of changing up the cage, so I definitely do NOT recommend that. They are a good pet if you just want to watch them, but if you are looking for something to interact with, I would not recommend a Fire-Bellied Toad.
