Eastern Tiger Salamanders can reach lengths of 12 - 13 inches. Tiger salamanders are found from coast to coast in the United States but they should not be taken out of the wild. Buy them from a pet shop or at a reptile show.
Typically Tiger Salamanders reach a length of 6 - 8 inches. Their diet consists mostly of insects and worms but it is not unusual for adults to eat small frogs and pinky mice.
The tiger salamander is very attached to where it was born and it will try to return to where it was born to try to breed and reproduce. As adults they live almost exclusively on land and return to the water only to breed and reproduce.
A ten to twenty gallon aquarium makes an ideal habitat for a tiger salamander. You will need a reptile top on it to make sure your salamander does not escape.
Tiger salamanders are great eaters and they can easily be maintained on crickets and meal worms. If you want a tiger salamander you need to do your own research and learn everything you can about them.
You need to maintain a journal about your tiger salamander and you need to keep carefully detailed notes that you can refer back to often.
