Fire Newt

I got this fire newt when I was 15, for my birthday. It was extremely pretty, in my opinion, with "fire" red/orange marbling on its belly and a sleek dark green/brown/black body. All this newt required to live was a medium sized terrarium/fish tank, occasional crickets, and some water to hang out in. Additionally, I had some mossy debris/rocks thrown around for the little guy to hide in and on. This particular pet never seemed to get too hot or too cold. He happily ate the very small crickets I gave him, along with meal worms.
This pet is ideal for most people as it is very easy to care for overall. However, be aware that, like a lot of amphibians, you cannot handle the fire newt much. Apparently, oils from hands can make them ill, and mine came with a warning saying as much. Additionally, the home it is in will smell a bit, like a swamp almost. It is a very pretty pet and fairly active, though. A really lovely aquarium pet.
