I've had fire bellied newts twice in my life. The first time I was far too young to care for them myself and the second time I think I made a big mistake! They were cute little pets but, buyer be ware, they can climb glass like it's nobodies business! I had two of them and one day one escaped so I started putting a lid on the bowl I was keeping them in. My younger sister took the lid off one day while I was out and, poof, like Harry Houdini, they both disappeared! I only ever found one of the little guys and he had already died. They aren't a difficult pet but I really suggest a good, high sided enclosure with a secure lid to keep the little buggers from escaping.
