Wonderful Dart Frogs For Anyone

These were the first dart frogs that I got and I love them to bits. Let's start with the good: they are very brightly colored and easy to see in their vivarium, they are active during the day, they hunt whenever you put their food in and it's fun to watch, and in general, they are just great frogs to own.

There isn't too much bad: you do have to mist them constantly (I do 3-4 X a day) or get a mister system to keep them hydrated as you can't put in water dishes that are very deep or they can drown, they can't be handled, they are a bit expensive.

Other than that, they are very easy to take care of. I have a smaller 10 gallon vivarium for mine that is planted with bamboo and ivy with lots of hides (big and small) as well as plenty of room for them to climb and hop. I've had mine for well over two years and I take them with me when I'm doing any type of animal presentation at schools and such because they are so active.

You do have to have a good place to get small crickets and flightless fruitflies for them to eat. If you're considering getting some, I highly recommend that you take the time to research what they need and get their cage set up properly before you get any.
