Barred Tiger Salamander

Of the dozens of salamnder species I've kept at zoos and home, tigers rank among my favorites. They are among the most responsive of all amphibians..more "lizard-like" in behavior than others. They soon give up their retiring ways, and will approach for food when you enter the room. A varied high calcium diet is essential, with earthworms being a good staple. All tiger subspecies are boldly marked, but the barred is the most striking of all, and may reach nearly 12 inches in length...a very impressive beast!
