Toads make great pets. They are easy to care for and do not need a lot of supplies. All you really need is a 10 gallon or larger fish tank, some gravel for the bottom, and plenty of crickets or meal worms for the toad to eat. You will also need to supply a place in the tank that is wet and a place that is dry. The toad will use the wet area to keep his skin moist, but needs the dry area so his food does not drown.
Toads are mostly inactive, but will jump around all over the place when food is present. This breed of toad stays small for a relatively long time, so they are easy to keep as pets. Toads do not mind being handled, but it is best not to handle them for too long at a time as it is important to keep their skin moist.
Toads are easy to find, easy to keep, and fun for kids because they get to hold them a lot.
