This Frog Makes a Great Pet (With Affordable and Simple Upkeep, too!)

I owned a couple of African Dwarf Clawed Frogs when I was younger, and most recently had one in 2012 who shared a tank with my Glo-Fish. I was very happy to once again own one of these frogs, as I was very satisfied with them as a child.

These frogs make PERFECT pets, especially for young children, college students, and families looking to start off small. They require very little care, and do not need large tanks. Most pet stores recommend a gallon of water per frog, which seemed to work best for the ones I have owned in the past. Dwarf frogs love to hide behind plants, so I usually bought live bamboo plants for my frogs, which were affordable and easy-to-clean. Additionally, they provided key nutrients to keep my frogs healthy.

Owning an African Dwarf Clawed Frog is not a challenging experience. While they do have the tendency to jump and escape from their water, a secure lid will ensure their safety. They are very affordable pets, especially for their potential life span of about 5 years. I would definitely recommend owning one of these great frogs!
