Our long-lived African Aquatic Clawed Frog

If you are looking for a low-maintenance pet, look no further. The African Aquatic Clawed frog is very easy to care for. Our female frog is about 13 years old - she has never once had a health problem and seems to be very hardy and healthy. We keep her in a clean tank with minimal decorations (just a small fake cave to hide inside), no extra lighting or heat, and she has done just fine. She eats pellet food that is very easy to find at the pet store. The tradeoff to having such a simple pet is that it is easy to forget she is even there- she rarely moves, and usually just floats about her tank. We never physically handle her, so it's more like having a fish that exhibits even less activity. When we have visitors they are always interested in looking at her for a moment or two. If you have a passion for amphibians or are looking for something that would be easy for a child to care for, I would recommend this pet.
