Toady the African Clawed Frog was a very dull aquatic pet. Although her slick skin colours were flat beige, they did have the ability to adapt to the environment by becoming darker or lighter and more mottled. She was quite inactive and would spend hours just on a rock with her body underwater and her head out of it. In general, these frogs are voracious, carnivorous eaters but I found my female difficult to feed. I tried many types of food to keep her interested in eating, from earth worms to maggots and even chunks of dog meat. Her aquatic environment was easy to keep clean and I gave her away after five years, to a friend who had a son who was interested in keeping her. He had another ten years with her!
